70 years young and still enjoying sex!
Who thinks that our libido gets dulled by age? Certainly not the elderly of Sweden who appear to enjoy a flourishing sex life! At the age of 70, almost 100% of married men still claim to be satisfied with their love life. Enough to make many of us jealous!
A team of Swedish researchers monitored 1,500 individuals over the course of 30 years. On four occasions they responded to detailed questionnaires about their sex life, any “failures” they experienced and the pleasure they got from sex.
The results are unequivocal: despite the passing years, there is definitely no crisis in the marital bed! Over these 30 years, the percentage of married men fully satisfied with their sex life rose from 52% … to 98%. And 54% of unmarried men expressed the same satisfaction, although the figure was only 30% when they first joined the study in 1971.
However, we need to ask whether their satisfaction is shared. In fact their partners seem to be far less well off: in 2000, only 56% of married women said they were satisfied, but as the figure was only 38% in 1971 this still demonstrates some progress… As for unmarried women, only 12% said that they enjoyed a flourishing sex life. But here again the figures can be deceiving because in 1971 only 0.8% of these women said that they had a satisfactory sex life.
