A healthy lifestyle is also good for your sex life …
It seems that a sedentary lifestyle and smoking increase the risk of erectile dysfunction. Which is another good reason for making sure you have a healthy way of life!
Taking medication is all very well, but there are failures and secondary effects to consider. Not to mention the cost and the disadvantages in terms of spontaneity, recalls Professor Muammer Kendirci. A urologist and andrologist in Istanbul, Turkey, Professor Kendirci studied the benefits of exercise and giving up smoking in the treatment of erectile dysfunction.
For men who engage in little or no physical activity (ie who have less than two and a half hours of exercise a week), the increased risk of erectile dysfunction can be as high as 43% to 61%. Yet is has been shown that exercise reduces the risk factors of erectile dysfunction, such as diabetes and high blood pressure. It also has the intrinsic effect of improving blood circulation … which is obviously necessary for achieving a quality erection.
Smoking is also an important factor. Smokers are twice as likely to suffer from erectile dysfunction as non-smokers. The risk is also proportional to the number of cigarettes smoked … but decreases when you stop smoking. And it’s better to stop sooner than later, before the vascular changes responsible for erectile dysfunction start to set in. So, gentlemen, if you want to enjoy life and love … get rid of that last cigarette!
