A monkey in trainers is a more intelligent monkey!

According to American researchers, regular physical activity of moderate intensity improves the learning capacity and memory ability of those who take part in it. Nothing new about that?
Well, yes there is – because in this case the individuals involved are macaques: the study in question was conducted on cynomolgus monkeys whose “physiological characteristics are very similar to those of Man”.
To reach this result, the author of the report divided the study group in half, with one set exercising on treadmills for an hour a day, while the other “subjects” were left to their imposed sedentary lifestyle. The study took place over the course of six months but “at the end of 5 weeks, we gradually included exercises aimed at assessing their cognitive abilities”, he explained.
“We found that the ‘sporty’ group performed better in the cognitive tests”. And in physiological terms, “they also showed a larger vascular volume in the cerebral cortex than their fellow creatures”. According to the author, these results can doubtless be transposed to Man …
