Protect yourself against mosquitoes…
Once summer arrives it’s impossible to escape those annoying mosquitoes!
To guard against them at home, start by getting rid of anything containing stagnant water where they might breed, such as plant saucers, plant pot holders, garden toys, etc. Leave nothing available.
Mosquitoes are more active at nightfall, so to enjoy the long summer evenings safely, wear long, pale-coloured clothes and don’t forget to cover up sensitive areas like your arms and ankles.
You can also use insect repellents, on your face and neck in particular, but also on your clothing. The World Health Organisation (the WHO) chiefly recommends repellents containing DEET, IR3535 or icaridin. So check the list of ingredients before choosing one.
The WHO further points out that mosquito coils and insect sprays can also reduce mosquito bites inside buildings. And for a peaceful night’s sleep, cover your bed with a mosquito net impregnated with insecticide. As a bonus, this improvised “canopy” will also create a wonderfully romantic atmosphere!
