The MMR vaccine – the UK government fights back…
[mis à jour le 16 February 2010 à 10h14]
“The vaccine against measles, mumps and rubella (MMR) is effective and reliable. It also remains the only way of combating these three diseases.”
For some days now, the British health authorities have been putting out this message in a determined tone via the country’s various media. Her Majesty’s government is in fact more determined than ever to put an end to the rumour that this vaccine is connected with the appearance of autism.
None of the studies carried out in recent years in a number of countries, including Great Britain, has shown any evidence to support such a cause-and-effect relationship. But the rumour persists, and in the United Kingdom – and only there – some parents are now reluctant to have their children vaccinated. Since 1997, the vaccination rate has dropped from 92% to 86%!
All parents with children of vaccination age are to be sent a personal letter about the benefits of vaccination … as are the doctors and nurses who naturally form an integral part of the government’s strategy.
