Ways for young mums to keep in shape…
What with nappies and baby bottles to deal with, it’s not easy for young mums to get back to exercising! But here are a few little tricks that might help…
When you go to pick up your baby, squat down. This will work your thighs. When you stand up, do so slowly, taking the strain on your legs. This will work your muscles and reduce the strain on your back.
Do you find yourself having to rock your baby to sleep? Use this as an opportunity to have a walk around!
And why not go for a walk with your baby on your back? This traditional way of carrying babies in Africa is starting to become popular in Europe too and you can even buy wraps specially designed for this purpose. And it’s certainly true that it makes babies feel calm and happy.
Another good idea is to go out running or power walking , either alone or with friends who live nearby. And you can always take the pushchair out too – your baby will love it!
