Scientific board

  • The main function of the Board is to assist Destination Santé with the scientific processing of information and to advise it, where appropriate, on the content of public health messages. The Board must issue opinions on the editorial relevance and scientific quality of the information disseminated by the various media Destination Santé is feeding. It also monitors ethics and the objective nature of the information provided by the Agency.

The Board members:

  • Take part in validating editorial decisions, assisting the Destination Santé management in defining its editorial options in line with major public health themes.
  • Enrich the choice of subjects by the Editor by broadening the scope thanks to their experience and knowledge of needs, for instance local needs.
  • Can take up any issue dealt with or broadcast by the Agency and issue comments on its relevance, scientific objectivity or quality.
  • The Editorial team may, on an ad hoc basis, call upon the members in order to benefit from their expertise or to identify a person capable of answering specific questions relating to topical events.
  • The members are full members of the Jury responsible each year for awarding the Destination Santé Prize for Mobilisation in Public Health. In this connection, they are asked to produce an opinion, giving reasons, on the applicants for this prize. They then vote to choose the prizewinner or prizewinners.

Membership of the Board :

  • The members are chosen - in France and elsewhere - for their academic and professional qualifications and for the guarantee of objectivity which they provide. Their expertise covers as wide a range as possible of health information topics. They are invited to join the Board for one-year periods which may be renewed. The meetings are confidential. The members take part in the meetings quite independently, contributing their scientific and personal expertise.
